Today is Axl Rose’s 51st Birthday. To mark the passing of another year in the rocker’s life (and in all of ours, too) we threw a party and invited everyone to enjoy grilled pizzas and beer while listening to some good old rock and roll. The video camera captured some truly epic moments – most of which have been cut out of the final version because I fear what my friends would do to me if I didn’t – but I did manage to put together a mash-up of birthday greetings to Axl.

The fact that my friends not only went along with this latest wacko idea of mine, they embraced it even if more than a few of them didn’t understand what I was doing with Axl Rose or why I was doing it. It may have been Axls birthday party, but I’m the one who got the presents. To know that all your friends find you a little eccentric but love you anyway and are willing to support you no matter what you are doing is the best gift of all. I can only hope Axl has friends like these and he is surrounded by those who love him regardless of how eccentric he may be.
